Everybody loves a beautiful woman.
Men love them, obviously.
Women love them, too. Often because we wish we were one.
It took me most of my youth to accept that it just wasn’t in the cards for me.

Songs About Beautiful Women
As mentioned, I tried to include songs about beautiful women in a number of different genres, so that everyone can find something the enjoy. If you have some great suggestions in genres I missed, please let me know in the comments below.
Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison
Roy Orbison and Bill Dees wrote this song on a Friday in 1964 and recorded it on the next Friday. By the third Friday, it was out! It was the fastest thing ever! From the moment you hear Pretty Woman with its music, you imagine a pretty woman walking down the streets in her heels.
After all, the beautiful song was inspired by Orbison’s wife Claudette Frady who announced she was walking down the street to the store, while Dees and Orbison were writing. Orbison asked her if she needed cash and Dees joked that pretty women don’t need any!
Pretty Woman was used in the Julia Roberts and Richard Gere film of the same name, as well as in Dumb & Dumber. As a side note, which of those movies you prefer probably says a lot about you as a person. I prefer the latter. So, yeah…
She is a song about a mysterious, beautiful woman from a man’s point of view. The interesting thing is that Aznavour also recorded She in several languages, such as German, Italian, Spanish, and French.
Later, Elvis Costello revived this masterpiece, which was used in Notting Hill, another Julia Roberts film. I guess people think she’s beautiful or something.
Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars
Just The Way You Are has Bruno Mars praising the beauty of his girlfriend, whom he describes as perfect, saying that he wouldn’t change anything about her. The singer describes the girl’s perfect face, lips, and laughter.
The song went on to be Mars’ first charting single as lead and even hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
When You’re In Love With A Beautiful Woman by by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show
This 1978 song was an instant hit and even reached the 6th position on Billboard’s Top 100 singles and the first position on the UK Singles Chart.
The singer talks about how life can be hard when you’re going out with a beautiful woman. After all, everyone wants her and you’re insecure all the time.
You’re Beautiful by James Blunt
I’ve had a few readers accuse me of only including songs on these lists that I like. That is definitely not true and in fact, most of them are written by other writers anyway.
I bring this up now, because if you ever wanted proof that these lists are not just songs I personally love, here it is. I can not stand this song or the singer. I hated it from the first moment I heard it and nothing my friends say has been able to change my mind.
However, I know I am in the minority. This was a hugely popular hit and also a great song. At least that’s what my friends say. So it is included here. But I did not write anything below this point, because that would have been disingenuous.
This beautiful ballad describes James Blunt’s encounter with a stunningly beautiful woman on the subway. The lyrics go on to say that she is far beyond his reach and that they can never be together.
Blunt wrote this song based on his experience. His girlfriend was with another man on the train and when they made eye contact ‘they shared a lifetime’.
However, in another interview, Blunt stated that the song is written from the perspective of a stalker who is eyeing another man’s girlfriend. But people misunderstood it to be a romantic song.
You’re Beautiful climbed all the way to the top spot in the UK charts and Blunt even performed his hit during Elton John’s civil partnership ceremony with David Furnish in 2005.
She’s So Beautiful by Cliff Richards
Sung by Cliff Richards, with Stevie Wonder on the instruments, this track is from the Time musical. Richards plays a rock singer and the last man on earth who goes into space to save the world. The official music video depicts beautiful women of all ages playing various sports.
Perfect by Ed Sheeran
Perfect describes the singer telling his girl she looks perfect when she thinks she is a mess. Sheeran wrote the song for his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn (now his wife). He sent it to her while she was in New York, so he couldn’t see her reaction.
The song went on to spend 52 weeks on the Hot 100 and also topped UK Radio Smooth’s 2018 All-Time Top 500. It was 2018’s most-heard song on US radio.
Beautiful Girl by INXS
Beautiful Girl was the 5th single from INXS’s 8th album released in 1992. It is about a runaway girl whom an older man (the singer) wants to protect from the harsh world.
Michael Hutchence, himself a beautiful man and the lead singer of INXS, later said in an interview that he wanted to dedicate Beautiful Girl to all those Australian girls and women who were ‘normal kids’ that got caught up in stripping, prostitution or drug/sex rackets and maybe ended up suffering from eating disorders or worse.
Beautiful by Akon
Akon’s Beautiful, sung in his unique voice, is a simple representation of a guy who thinks a girl is beautiful. He goes on to say he wouldn’t leave her, that she’s out of this world, and that she is a symbol of what a big beautiful woman should be.
Note that there are some lyrics in this song that are downright hilarious: “I’ll spend them grands, but after ya undress, not like a hooker but more like a princess queen, empress, president.”
The Most Beautiful Girl In the World by Prince
Prince had an angelic voice and this song is simply captivating. Its lyrics are straightforward and describe a girl’s beauty using superlatives.
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World has an interesting story behind it. Prince advertised in a magazine that an eligible bachelor was seeking a beautiful woman to spend the Holidays with.
He only put his silhouette in the advertisement. The women who answered were made a part of the song’s music video!
Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston
Sean Kingston wrote Beautiful Girls when he was just 16. He based it on his breakup with his gorgeous girlfriend, which left him feeling down. The experience also made him wonder if there was something more than beauty.
Some groups took offense to the song’s lyrics for the use of the word ‘suicide’ repeatedly used in the song. Sean had to then come up with another version, replacing the word ‘suicidal’ with ‘in denial’.
The Most Beautiful Girl by Charlie Rich
Fans of this beautiful love ballad might remember listening to it in the early 1970s. The Most Beautiful Girl is a combination of two songs: Hey Mister written by Norro Wilson and The Most Beautiful Girl by Charlie Rich.
The song describes the beauty of the singer’s gorgeous girlfriend, who has left him after a heated argument the night before. The singer asks her to come back and says he is sorry.
She’s A Beauty by The Tubes
Those who were teenagers in the 80s might remember this song. She’s a Beauty has a great hook, great dynamics, and a guitar solo to boot. If you have never heard The Tubes, give them a listen. You might agree that they were one of the most underrated bands of their time.
Lead singer Fee Waybill explained in an interview that San Francisco’s underbelly inspired She’s a Beauty. It is based on the singer’s experience when he paid $1 to talk to a beautiful naked girl!
He kept asking the girl whether she could dance and sing, since The Tubes were looking for dancers in their videos. But the girl completely ignored him and kept repeating the same sentences she was paid to repeat.
Pretty Girl by Maggie Lindemann
Maggie Lindemann gives a powerful message through this song. People always judge others (and especially women) based on their looks. In reality, women can be so much more than just pretty faces. Maggie said in an interview that she dedicated Pretty Girl to all those who feel the same way.
Pretty Girls by Wale
In Pretty Girls, Wale describes the kind of woman he has in mind.
If you love hip-hop and rap, you might remember this song from nearly a decade ago. It features Gucci Mane and Wink, the lead singer of the Backyard Band.
The song has a club vibe you simply cannot describe. It is one of Wale’s most creative tracks with a blend of go-go (a subgenre of funk music) and hip-hop.
God Bless America And All The Beautiful Women In It by Lana Del Rey
Lana dedicates this beautiful song to all her fellow Lady Americans. She says she wants every woman to feel safe, when she is walking around alone at night.
Del Rey wants American women to know they aren’t alone and, although she does not feel that way, she often writes about ‘where she wants to get’. The song was inspired by Lana’s discussion with her female friends who felt that they didn’t have enough political representation.
The lyrics go on to say that every woman should stand proud like Lady Liberty.
She’s Driving Me Wild by Michael Jackson
She’s got the look
And she’s driving me wild.
Jackson wrote this song with Teddy Riley, who later told the media that they used various car sounds (horns, doors closing, seat belts clicking, etc.) to record this song. There was no official music video but Jackson had a studio recording and personally handed out 250 CDs to his loyal fans. Ah, lucky them!
Scars To Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara
Scars to Your Beautiful is a song to listen to first thing in the morning for positive vibes all day.
You don’t have to change a thing – the world can change its heart!
These lyrics hit hard, especially for someone with low self-esteem issues.
Cara’s message to her fans before she performed Scars was “The standards that we have to kind of face as young women in everyday life just to feel, or look a certain way, or act a certain way, because there’s a lot of pressure being a young girl, and just girls and women in general. So I wanted to make a reminder to just love yourself and appreciate yourself no matter what.”

As promised, 18 great songs about beautiful women. Hopefully, you were able to discover at least one you liked. Ideally, quite a few more.
I know there are some genres missing altogether. That is because neither I, nor the writer who wrote this piece, are familiar with those genres. That makes it difficult to select songs from them, much less write about them.
