Gifts For Music Lovers, Students And Teachers

October 4, 2017 By Camila Leave a Comment

Presents to get a music lover, student or teacherAre you struggling to find the perfect present for the music lover, music student or music teacher in your life?

Struggle no more!

Here is a list of music themed gifts for people who like music. Even if none of them are quite right for your particular music lover, they are sure to at least help you brainstorm some additional gift ideas.

I’ve tried to include ideas that make great gifts for birthdays, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Weddings, Anniversaries and any other occasion. We also included music related gifts in all price ranges.

I’ll begin with 6 gifts for music lovers, then list 5 gifts for music students, and finally 5 gifts for music teachers.

6 Great Gift Ideas For Music Lovers

Some Vintage Record Coasters

These cool-looking coasters are made from upcycled vinyl LP records. The original labels are kept intact, which is what sets these coasters apart from other similar products.

They are made in the US and each set of 6 includes a variety of genres, bands, musicians and colors. You also get a clear case. The coasters themselves are covered with with a clear mylar seal to protect them from moisture. They are 4 inches in diameter.

My one complaint would be that you can’t choose the labels on your coasters. I completely understand that isn’t really feasible, but I can’t help wishing I could have exactly the albums I want (mainly my favorites from my childhood). Still, these coasters make for a really cool present. And, in a way, not knowing exactly what you’ll find when the giftee unwraps their present makes it a nice surprise for the gifter as well.

Vibes Acoustic Filter Earplug For Concerts and Clubs

You may recognize the Vibes Acoustic Filter Earplugs from the TV show Shark Tank. They were a huge hit on the show and have been selling well since making them one of the most popular gifts for music lovers.

Vibes plugs lower the sound volume to protect your hearing, without muffling the sound like regular earplugs. You still enjoy the clean and clear sound of the music and you can carry on conversations as you could without the plugs in your ears.

The best part is how comfortable they are. The soft ear tips rest perfectly in the ear canal and you’ll soon forget you’re wearing them at all, even if you keep them in all day for a music festival. And since the outer tube is clear, no one else will notice you’re wearing them either.

These plugs come with a number of differently sized tips, so they’ll fit any ear. They also come with a hard pocket-sized carrying case. Vibes plugs are one of the best music gift ideas, especially because they’re inexpensive and give the owner so much value (i.e. intact hearing).

A Ticket Shadow Box

Do you know someone who goes to a lot of concerts and shows?

Do they save their tickets as a memento?

Then this shadow box for tickets is the perfect gift. The slot on the top allows you to simply drop your tickets into the shadow box, so you can see them any time you want. They stay preserved inside the box, but are still visible through the glass window on the front.

Hooks on the back make it easy to hang on the wall so can show your collection off as well as looking at it yourself to bring back fond memories of past shows. It can also stand up on its end if you prefer to keep in on a shelf. It definitely belongs on any list of gifts for people who love music.

An Upholstered Ottoman with A Bluetooth Speaker Inside

This is a pretty specialized gift for someone who needs both an ottoman and a bluetooth speaker, though only if they are fine with a not-very-portable bluetooth speaker. But for that person, this bluetooth ottoman speaker is a great musical-themed gift.

You get a quality speaker that does not take up any additional space. As an ottoman, it is comfortable and comes in a number of colors, so you should be able to find something that matches the existing decor. If not, there are a couple of other brands that come in varying styles.

This ottoman speaker measures 17 by 17 by 18 inches and comes with a 3.5 mm cord and a power adapter. The cord allows you to plug it directly into the audio source, if you do not want to use bluetooth.

A Vinyl Record Wall Clock

This wall clock is made from a recycled vinyl record and makes a great present for any occasion. It can hang in the living room, bedroom, kitchen, office, study room, nursery or even the bathroom, thanks to the choice of 16 different styles.

If you contact the manufacturer, they can even create a custom clock for you, which makes for one of the best personalized gifts for music lovers. They also have a number of other listings on Amazon with even more styles available.

As for the clock itself, it runs silent and requires a single AA battery, which is even included with your purchase (because we all hate getting a gift that requires a battery, but not getting the battery to run it).

A Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Like The UE Roll 2 Volcano

Portable wireless Bluetooth speakers are one of the best inventions in recent times. I love being able to have my favorite songs on my phone and being able to play them through a small set of speakers, without any cable, and still get great sound quality.

There are so many different models available and a number of them are excellent. So why am I recommending the UE Roll 2 Volcano?

Because I just got one myself a few days ago, that’s why. And I love it!

It is small (5.3 inches or 13.5 cm in diameter) and weighs very little (11.7 ounces or 330 grams). Despite the size, it sounds great and, more importantly, it’s waterproof. I’m one of those people that loves to listen to music in the shower or bathtub, which is why I got this speaker in the first place.

UE even include a flotation device that allows you to have the speaker with you in a lake or pool (admittedly, I’ve only used it in the bathtub so far, but it worked great there). They promise around 9 hours of battery life, but I’ve actually been getting quite a bit more than that. I think it’s because I keep the volume fairly low. You can also get two of these speakers and use them together to get a stereo sound.

6 Great Music Teacher Gifts

Music-Themed Coffee or Tea Mug

The mug pictured is a white ceramic coffee or tea mug, but there are tons of other styles available, too. I’m sure you’ll find something that will appeal to your particular music teacher’s sense of humor.

The mug pictured here is safe to use in the microwave or dishwasher. The lettering is on both sides and uses only the highest-quality ink, so it doesn’t fade over time. The mug measures 4 by 4 by 4 inches and holds 11 ounces.

Mugs like this make a great gift for any occasion, be it Christmas, a birthday, Father’s or Mother’s Day, an anniversary or just to say thank you. And if, for some reason, the you gave it to doesn’t like it, you can return it for a full refund.

Moonluna Circle Of Fifths Wall Clock

If you don’t teach music, you probably wouldn’t want this on your wall. But for someone who does, this clock from Moonluna would be perfect on the wall of their classroom.

It is a good-sized clock, with a 12 inch diameter, making it easy to read from across a room. But only students who have been paying attention would even be able to make sense of what they see.

The clock runs completely silent and uses high-quality Quartz movement to ensure accurate time-keeping. It runs on one AA battery, which is not included when you buy the clock. That would have been a nice touch—who doesn’t hate getting a present that requires batteries to operate, but not getting the batteries.

This large, music-themed wall clock is not only clever (read about the circle of fifths here), but can serve as a constant reminder to any music instructor’s students. More than that, it makes for a wonderful conversation piece.

Music Note Scarf

The music note scarf pictured here is made by Purple Box Jewelry and it also comes in red, purple and white and with a number of different music-related designs, from notes to piano keys. In addition there are a ton of other scarves available with musical designs, so you’re sure to find one that would appeal to your music instructor.

The Purple Box Jewelry scarves feel like silk, but are actually made from 100% polyester. Obviously silk would be better, but that would increase the price considerably. As it is, it sells for a very low price, making it a great gift.

These scarves are one-size-fits-all. They measure 13 inches across and 60 inches in length. They are great scarves, but go ahead and click below to browse all the scarves available on Amazon, to see which one would be best for your teacher.

There are a lot of different ties with musical motifs, so you’ll definitely find one that suits the person for whom you’re shopping. You can check out all the different musical ties on Amazon here.

The tie pictured here is the skinny novelty music tie from Match Music. It actually comes in three different styles: the one in the photo, another one with larger notes and clefs in white on black material and a black tie with white piano keys.

The Music Match tie is made from 100% polyester, but it has a satin style and feels like silk. It is 2 inches wide and suits most shirt styles and colors. To see the various other ties with musical motifs, click the button below.

Treble Clef Brooches

Jewelry with musical themes is always a great gift for a music teacher. For a male teacher, cuff links or tie clips make great choices and for female teachers necklaces, earrings and brooches make perfect presents.

Handmade Ceramic Wall Plaque With Musical Puns

Any music teacher would love to have one of these handmade ceramic plaques from Mountain Meadows Pottery adorning the wall of their classroom or studio.

The plaques measure about 4 by 6 inches, but the size may differ since they are all handmade. They are made from a soft, pliable clay and individually decorated. The plaque retains the natural clay color, but is covered in a glossy finish. The lettering is dark blue.

Each plaque is packaged as a gift in sustainable materials. The packaging has a wonderful, unique design. Also included is a weatherproof nylon string, so the plaque can be hung outdoors as well. All materials used come from the USA.

Inexpensive Music Gifts For Students

A Metronome For Musicians

Any musician, student or not, could use a good metronome and this one from Tampi is a great choice. It looks great, is incredibly flexible and is quite inexpensive. A metronome like this helps establish accurate musical timing so that the student can play or sing at a proper pace.

This metronome doesn’t use batteries and gets about 20 minutes from one wind-up. Choose any tempo between 20 and 208 beats per minute and either a 0, 2, 3, 4 or 6 beat bell. Inside the metronome are durable steel gears; the outside is plastic with a gorgeous veneer, depending on the color you choose. 4 are available: black, white, mahogany or teak.

The Tempi metronome is great for any skill level, especially students. It is so simple to use that it is perfect for children, too. It comes with a free e-book and a micro fiber cleaning cloth. It is covered by a 2-year warranty.

Scales Bootcamp

This book is billed as “the fastest, clearest way to get to know your scales, and then master them.” And Scales Bootcamp lives up to that.

It details a revolutionary way to teach scales. This new edition contains full-color fingering diagrams that are as clear as possible. Tons of mini challenges make practicing scales fun and lead students on a journey to mastery. They revel in each achievement and improve constantly and consistently.

Scales Bootcamp was devised by Philip Johnston, who is one of the best-known writers and thinkers in musical education. He has written several other educational books and has a website as well. This book is one of the best gift ideas for music students, but his other works are great as well.

Sheet Music Stand

Any student will eventually need a good sheet music stand. Most start with something cheap and flimsy, but who wants to buy cheap music gits for students they love and care about. No, you want to give your musician a high-quality stand like the Manhasset Model #48.

The model #48 is the most popular of all Manhasset’s stands and is used by more schools than all other stands combined. One reason for this is that it is the longest lasting and most durable stand on the market.

The desk is made from lightweight, but sturdy aluminum with a glare-free black finish that is baked on, to resist chipping and scratching. The stand has a heavy-duty chrome inner shaft and the base is made from heavy-gauge welded steel.

The stand measures 20 by 12.5 inches at the desk and the height varies from 26 to 48 inches from the floor to the lip. The maximum overall height is 60.5 inches. It has a knobless tilt neck that provides constant tension and a counterbalanced “Magic Finger Clutch” for a one-hand friction grip.

Music Book Mark and Page Holder

If your student already has a stand, he or should could really use this gold clip music book mark and page holder. It is made for music books, but works for cookbooks, textbooks and all kinds of manuals as well.

This book mark is made from 18-gauge tempered steel, which is plated with 24 carat gold. It has been hand-polished until it shines with a bright yellow-gold finish. It is entirely made in the USA.

A music book mark holds your song book open and keeps it flat at the same time, so that you can keep your hands free to play your instrument. This book mark and page holder comes in a jewel case, making it a one of the best Christmas gifts for music students as well as a great present for any other occasion.

Manuscript Paper

All students could use manuscript paper like the Hal Leonard Standard Wire-bound Manuscript Paper. The one pictured here comes with a green cover, which is the most popular, but it is also available with red or aqua covers. You can buy a bundle of 5, as well, and save a bit of money over buying them all individually.

This is a wire-bound book that contains 96 pages. Each page has 12 staves and is the standard 8.5 by 11 inch size. You also get a music notation guide, which is what makes this particular manuscript paper one of the smartest music gift ideas for students.

One small complaint I would have is that the pages aren’t perforated, but they are still fairly easy to remove from the booklet. Apart from that, the paper is clearly high quality, which is great considering the low price. That price is also why I can forgive the lack of perforation—I’m sure adding that feature would bump up the cost considerably. Hal Leonard is a leader in musical publications for a reason.
