The term “ghosting” is fairly new.
But the concept has existed for as long as humans have been dating each other.
That’s why many songs about being ghosted never even mention the term.
They just describe it as we used to before the term “ghosting” entered our vocabulary.
But they are talking about the same thing.
And some of them are included below for that reason.
Keep reading for a list of the best songs about getting ghosted, whether they refer to it using that word or not.

Songs About Being Ghosted
I tried to include songs about ghosting in as many different genres as possible. However, some genres don’t seem to sing about it at all. If you landed here looking for songs about ghosts, head here instead.
I Dodged a Bullet by Eve Williams
Eve Williams may not be well-known, but this music teacher and country singer certainly knows what it feels like being ghosted. The lyrics of I Dodged a Bullet describe how Eve eagerly awaited her date to text her back, before she realized she had been dumped. She wondered what went wrong and what she’d done to deserve this.
Eve believes her song will make all the victims of ghosters feel better. She assures them that it is not their fault and that they deserve better. She hopes that they won’t let this incident get them down and that someone better is waiting out there for them.
Ghosting by Cat Burns
Ghosting is a track by Cat Burns released in May 2022. It is written from the perspective of the one who ghosts or ignores their friends. In Ghosting, Cat Burns tells her friends that she isn’t ghosting them. She is going through some personal stuff and she wants to get through it alone.
She also believes she is prioritizing her mental health and self-care by not responding to their messages. This song is her excuse for her introvert nature. And while she knows her behavior is wrong, she cannot help it.
Silent Treatment by The Roots
The Roots, also known by other names like The Square Root and The Legendary Roots Crew, are a Grammy-winning hip-hop band from Pennsylvania. In Silent Treatment, (which was released way before ghosting was added as an informal word in the English Dictionary in 2017), the singer laments the silent treatment his girlfriend is giving him.
The man is surprised at her behavior and he cannot understand why she has stopped all communication with him. He tries to tell her that he cares deeply for her, but no matter what he says, she does not respond to him.
Ignored by Ryan Higa
If you follow famous YouTubers, you may have heard of Ryan Higa. This Asian YouTuber is known for his clever puns and comedy videos and has over a million subscribers.
In Ignored, Ryan references the Clash of Clans (a fantasy game where the players are chiefs of villages and they have to perform certain tasks). The singer laments the fact that he is being ignored by his friends in the chat rooms.
He is ghosted in all those chat rooms and that has deeply hurt him. If you remove the Clash of Clans reference, the song’s lyrics are sure to deeply resonate with someone who has been ghosted by their friends.
Did You Get My Message by Jason Mraz
Did You Get My Message is a song by Jason Mraz of I’m Yours fame. It was released in 2005. The singer desperately wants to know whether his girlfriend got his message. He wonders what happens to the messages when they are sent out in anger, whether they bend, break, and come back together.
In the last stanza of the song, Mraz desperately asks his girl whether she got his message, the one telling her that he wants to get back and reconnect with her. The song ends with the question: “hy don’t you answer the phone?”, expressing his anguish and despair at being ignored.
Lack of You by Myylo
Lack of You by Myylo, is a song from his album I’m a Nice Boy, released in 2020. It tells the story of Myylo’s breakup after his lover ghosted him. He sings about feeling hurt and confused because his partner isn’t there anymore.
Lack of You captures the loneliness and sadness that come after a breakup when you are left wondering what went wrong and why the other person doesn’t love you anymore. It beautifully expresses the pain of being ghosted and ignored and the struggle to move on, when you still have hope of reconciliation in your heart.
Faint by Linkin Park
Faint by Linkin Park was released in 2003 for the band’s album Meteora. While the track is not exactly about being ghosted, it elegantly expresses the frustration and the feeling of being ignored and disregarded. The singer’s repeated plea of ‘I won’t be ignored’ conveys that he feels unheard or misunderstood.
Linkin Park fans loved the song’s intense energy and the fact that it captures the desperation and anger that comes from being ignored. It is sure to resonate with people who have been ghosted for no reason.
Ghostin by Ariana Grande
Ghostin is a track from Ariana Grande’s 2019 album Thank You, Next. Its lyrics are based on Grande’s breakup with Mac Miller.
Grande dated Miller for a couple of years before she got engaged to Pete Davidson. The lyrics of Ghostin imply that Davidson simply cannot compare with Miller and she feels bad for him because he (Davidson) knows she is still in love with Miller.
The track also mentions that she ought to have been ghosting Davidson because of all of her baggage, but she also hopes that he will give her a chance and that they can get past it all.
Hello by Adele
Hello by Adele is a song from her album 25, released in 2015. In Hello, Adele sings about reaching out to to her ex after several years. She talks about wanting to reconnect and apologizes for her mistakes.
It is a heartfelt song about longing and regret, and the singer expresses her feelings of missing her lover and hoping to make things right again. She also mentions calling him a thousand times, but he does not respond, which adds to her sense of desperation and heartache.
How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore by Prince
Prince recorded the romantic ballad How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore in 1999 and it has been re-recorded by singers like Joshua Redman, Stephanie Mills, and Alicia Keys as well.
The song expresses Prince’s anguish about someone dear to him ignoring him completely. He asks why she isn’t talking to him anymore and expresses the loneliness and despair he feels due to this behavior. He longs for her to come back to him and misses the connection they once had. He pleads and begs and asks how he can set things right so she will come back.
Ghost by FRANKIE and Scott Hoying (feat. One Night)
Frankie and Scott Hoying ask one simple question which everyone who has been ghosted wants to ask: “Why did you ghost me? You could have simply said no. I feel so foolish waiting by my phone. You could have simply told me that you weren’t interested anymore. Why didn’t you want me? Tell me, so I can move on.”
Operator (He Doesn’t Call Me) by Låpsley (DJ Koze Radio Edit)
Holly Lapsley Fletcher is a British singer and songwriter. The track Operator is from her album Long Way Home, released in 2016.
The song tells the story of a woman whose lover has gone abroad. He has stopped calling her due to which she is lonely and depressed. She tries calling him but cannot get through to him. She wonders if the operator who patches her calls to him might fall in love with her instead.
Through the song, the woman narrates her disappointment and failed attempts to reach her partner. The lyrics ‘wrong numbers fill my blood, watch the spinning dials’ convey her frustration. She tells the operator that his behavior is taking an emotional toll on her and hopes that he will bridge the gap and make her feel loved and happy again.
Please Call Me, Baby by Tom Waits
Tom Waits is an American singer and songwriter. He released the song Please Call Me, Baby for his 1974 album, The Heart of Saturday Night. The track was also featured in the movie Keeping The Faith.
The singer starts the beautiful ballad by remembering the night before. However, the evening takes an ugly turn as he and his lover fight and she leaves in disgust.
The singer admits that their relationship is not healthy and that they are constantly fighting like cats and dogs. But despite it all, he misses her every time she leaves. He asks her to call him back and not ignore his calls.
Ghosted Me by Pmbata Ft. Rozei (Prod. Perish Beats)
Pmbata clearly expresses what everyone undergoes after being ghosted by someone they thought loved them very much. The singer describes being in love with a girl who tells him he means everything to her. Then she moves to California and breaks off all contact with him.
She simply “disappears like a bandit” leaving him to deal with the aftermath and the emotional turmoil due to her behavior. He questions what he did wrong to drive her away. He states that he is heartbroken and feels betrayed. All of his dreams of his future with her are shattered.
Ghosted by Evan Cassidy
Evan Cassidy is the one who ghosts all of his girlfriends after dating them a couple of times. The song expresses his struggle with maintaining relationships. He is simply confused and cannot make any relationship last. He also has the pattern of pushing these women away.
At the same time, he believes that he deserves love, because he does not want to remain alone all his life. Soon he sees “angel numbers” on his phone and takes them as a sign to call his lover. Then the pattern of ghosting repeats!
