Songs About Growing Old Together

As always, I tried to include as many different genres on this list as I could. It was not easy, since some genres simply do not have nearly as many songs about growing old together as others. Hopefully there are at least a few songs here that you will enjoy.

Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell

British singer Tom Odell wrote Grow Old With Me in 2013 for his debut studio album Long Way Down. The song is about a loving, enduring relationship between two people.

The singer tells his beloved that he isn’t afraid of growing old or of the things that are yet to come, as long as she is by his side.

Odell has beautifully captured the longing for a passionate and loving relationship that lasts forever. The song also portrays the singer’s comfort in knowing that his beloved will always be by his side.

Grow Old With Me by John Lennon

The above link is the remastered version (2013) of John Lennon’s song Grow Old With Me, which was originally released in 1980.

Lennon took inspiration from Yoko Ono’s poem. She asked him to perform it and make edits based on another poem by Robert Browning. Lennon soon penned Grow Old With Me. He tells his beloved that the best is yet to come and that God is surely going to bless their love.

Critics loved Grow Old With Me, and one even went on to call it Lennon’s second-best solo soul-baring love song. Several top artists have sung Grow Old With Me in their own styles. Do check out Mary Chapin Carpenter’s version of it here.

I Wanna Grow Old With You by Westlife

The lyrics of I Wanna Grow Old with You also talk about the singer wanting to spend his whole life with the person he loves, being there through ups and downs, and growing old together.

It’s a sweet and simple love song that shows the desire to be with someone forever and enjoy all the moments life brings, no matter how simple or ordinary, as long as they are together.
